Georges Soler
I was born and raised in French North Africa. My ethnic ancestry is rooted in Andalusia (Spain) and Ragusa (Dalmatia).
At the age of seventeen I moved with my family to France and later emigrated by myself to Australia.
Over a period of more than thirty years I made art intermittently while working to support my family and designing, building and renovating several family homes. I attended Queensland College of Art from 1997 - 2000. Since graduating I have built a house and studio in the Noosa Hinterland, where I've been able to develop and extensive body of work anchored around themes of identity, place and landscape. For more about my current art-practice see see my artist statement .
